Communities In Schools of Philadelphia (CIS of Philadelphia) is proud to announce their recipients of the prestigious Gates Millennium Scholarship (GMS). Mathematics, Civics, and Science Charter School graduating senior and Philadelphia Freedom Schools’ participant, Jamil Caldwell, and Roebuck Dredden, also a senior at Philadelphia Military Academy, have won scholarships from the United Negro College Fund’s Gates Millennium Scholarship (GMS) program.

Promoting the Importance of Reading to Youth

 

TUESDAY, APRIL 24 – In honor of Mother’s Day, Barnes & Noble has joined forces with Communities In Schools of Philadelphia (CIS of Philadelphia) to host the “Continuing the Legacy of Literacy” Bookfair in an effort to promote summer reading and to increase literacy among local youth.  To help support this event, participants may use a  “Legacy of Literacy” voucher when making purchases, Thursday, May 10 through Thursday, May 17, 2012 at any Barnes & Noble location or online.
